A wedding on the Oregon coast has limitless possibilities for venues and vibes. The sweeping landscape and quirky culture combine for a fun, romantic wedding day. Holly and Steve’s super intimate and highly curated wedding showed off the beauty of the Oregon coast.
Wedding on Oregon Coast
The Oregon coast enchants people for so many reasons. From the moody beaches to the towering mountains, the region has a lot to offer couples. Photographing a wedding on the Oregon coast really does feel like I’m going to the ends of the earth for love!
You could opt for a simple ceremony in a park or pick from the many wedding venues available. Whatever path you choose, you’ll find an unforgettable place to celebrate the person you love with the people who matter most to you.
Steve and Holly’s wedding on the Oregon coast took place at Postlewait’s, a farm venue that celebrates the natural beauty and bounty of Oregon amid the Cascade Mountains. With 80 acres, Postlewait’s creates a beautiful escape for wedding guests.
Postlewait’s has multiple locations for ceremonies indoors and outdoors. Steve and Holly opted to have their intimate wedding ceremony under the old growth oaks with a vintage carpet runner leading to the altar. Their fluffy floral arrangements blended seamlessly with the surroundings.
Postlewait’s is unique among farm wedding venues because it’s actually a working farm with orchards, vineyards, and animals. Guests will love watching the calves frolicking beyond the dance floor.
Cape Kiwanda Wedding Portraits
Steve and Holly planned a highly curated and intimate wedding on the Oregon Coast. We included a special portrait session at Cape Kiwanda, a state park with rugged cliffs and vast ocean views. The landscape is subtle but colorful. If you climb the big sand dune, you’ll see the blue and gray waves of the Pacific Ocean rolling into the cape. The sheer sandstone offers rugged backdrops of beige, pink, and orange.
I love photos from every session because they reflect couples’ connections to each other and their people. I have to say, though, that I’m especially proud of these portraits. The photo of Steve holding Holly’s hand as they walk up the cliffside is so intimate because it’s about their connection even as they’re surrounded by this dramatic landscape.
The textures of sand and grass and stillness of the beach were a beautiful counterpoint to the elegant, more cultivated ceremony later on. It was also the perfect way to get some portraits with their pups without having to coordinate with the venue.
The Camp Kiwanda wedding portraits and the Postlewait ceremony were full of candid cuddles, and having photos in so many locations was a great way to showcase all the possibilities for an intimate wedding on the Oregon coast.
Steve and Holly’s Intimate Wedding at Postlewait’s
Holly and Steve are the definition of a couple with depth. They’re both talented – Holly as an artist and Steve as an engineer. I appreciated that Steve was highly affectionate and expressive towards Holly. His love for her was palpable throughout the wedding weekend.
Both Steve and Holly are from Michigan but have found themselves at home in the Pacific Northwest. They love hiking and adventuring outdoors with their dogs. An Oregon coast wedding was perfect for them.
Originally, the couple had booked a different venue for the ceremony and reception, but that venue cancelled on them less than a month out from the wedding. You would never know that Postlewait wasn’t their original venue considering the care that went into every detail.
Holly’s dress was a statement piece all its own. Every other detail was built around it. Because Holly is an artist, she designed most of the details of her day and spent the first half of the morning setting up.
The hard work paid off as Holly and Steve celebrated their love amid truly personal details.
