There are few things I love more than a fall wedding in New Orleans! The weather is finally comfortable after the long, swampy summer, and it lifts people’s spirits to be outside. Becca and Brennen’s fall wedding was relaxed, and their reception at Port Orleans Brewing was full of sweet, spontaneous moments.
A Relaxed Fall Wedding
As a wedding photographer, Brennen and Becca are exactly the kind of couple I love to work with. Everything about their fall wedding was focused on connecting with each other and their closest people. The way their community showed up to support them was truly incredible. I left this wedding feeling all the feelings!
Like several of my couples, Becca and Brennen met on Tinder. Becca had just moved down to New Orleans from Boston. Within three days of her moving to New Orleans, the couple went on their first date. They bonded, among other things, over their love of craft beer and great restaurants. Their Port Orleans Brewing was just right.
The main reason Becca and Brennen’s fall wedding felt so laid back was the people they gathered around them. Their crew felt so easygoing and supportive. As a wedding photographer, my experience isn’t limited to just the couple. I’m thrown into the depths of all the relationships that the couple brings with them. It’s important to me to honor the full scope of what that means for each client.
Being around people like Becca and Brennen’s wedding party makes my job a joy. They wove me seamlessly into their collective. It was a true gift to me and the couple who were able to really be present on their wedding day. There were genuine happy tears throughout the day, especially when Becca did her dress reveal to her wedding party.
Wedding Portraits at Crescent Park
A fall wedding is the perfect time to take photos at Crescent Park! This park stretches along the Mississippi River. It includes lush native plants and beautiful views of the river from the bridge known as the Rusty Rainbow. The mix of nature and repurposed industrial space make Crescent Park a great location for portraits.
For Becca and Brennen’s wedding party and couples portraits, the sunset gifted us the most stunning light. Members of the wedding party thought to bring a backpack of beer. While waiting for their turn for photos, they sipped drinks and took in the view. The location fit the relaxed, cheerful vibe of the whole day.
These portraits and ceremony photos show how much love Becca, Brennen, and their wedding party wove into their day. The couple’s wedding party was so respectful and full of kind-hearted laughter. I appreciated bearing witness to the way they showed care for Becca and Brennen. Honestly, I’ve rarely seen a wedding party be such good friends to a couple. Brennen’s reaction to Becca walking down the aisle was also a beautiful emotional moment.
Fun Reception at Port Orleans Brewing
After the ceremony, everyone headed to Port Orleans Brewing for the wedding reception. This bar is known for locally-themed craft brews and taco pop ups. It’s one of several breweries to open in the old warehouses along the Mississippi River in the last ten years. In addition to an industrial-chic interior dining area, the restaurant has a space for large outdoor seating.
Port Orleans Brewing fit Becca and Brennen perfectly. The venue leant itself to creating a relaxed environment for their wedding guests. You could tell that the couple felt comfortable and in their element. They actually frequent Port Orleans Brewing. In the time between booking me and their wedding day, Becca and Brennen bonded with me over our mutual love of craft beers. A reception at the brewery felt ideal for them.
While Becca and Brennen’s guests enjoyed Port Orleans Brewing’s courtyard, the sun sank below the horizon. It cast the most spectacular shades of peach and purple over the reception. Guests were in awe, and it felt like a reflection of the warmth all around Becca and Brennen that night.
