Who says family sessions have to be stiff or even stressful? I have absolutely loved working with families over the last year, especially when they are in-home family shoots. While New Orleans is full of gorgeous backdrops for photos, there is something so special and intimate about doing your family photos at home.

As your New Orleans family photographer, my goal is to give you photos that intimately represent the stage of life your family is in, and that happens best, in my opinion, in the comfort of your own home.

Vanessa and Steve hired me to take their family photos in anticipation for their newest baby on the way at their New Orleans home in the Irish Channel. Vanessa and Steve’s home is a classic New Orleans style home, full of historic details nestled in a historic neighborhood.

While a major focus of this family photo session was the baby on the way, we wanted it to be more than just a “maternity” session. Because Steve and Vanessa have a child, it was important that she was included and just as much of an integral part of the photos as the baby bump was.

I love these family portraits because they are a perfect mix of artistic, emotional images alongside more traditional family photos as well. As a New Orleans family photographer, my goal is to give you both photos that feel deeply emotional, and of course a few good ones where everyone is looking at the camera smiling.

These photos are also extra special to me because I was also pregnant when this session was conducted. Getting ready to welcome my own child into the world gave me a different perspective in this family and maternity session than I had before.

As I envision what my own life and business will look like once our baby girl is here, I get excited about the potential of taking on more family photo sessions here in New Orleans.
