Kayleigh and Joe wanted something unique and catered to them for their wedding and their multi-location day gave them just that. While this wedding definitely required more complex planning, their Marigny Opera House wedding ceremony and Orpheum Theater reception were exactly what they always dreamed of.
I honestly knew that I was going to get along with these two after I found out that they met in college at Purdue – which was an instant connection point for me, as a Michigan Grad and fellow Big 10 fan. We bonded over our mutual agreement that we were thankful none of us went to a certain schools dressed in Red.
Getting Ready at The Roosevelt Hotel
As their wedding day officially kicked off, Kayleigh and Joe opted to get ready at the local Roosevelt Hotel. This was such a great choice as the hotel itself is not only gorgeous, but it also gave them plenty of room for everyone to get ready before heading to the ceremony.
Now, I know most of the time you’ll find that venues have on-site getting ready suites for you and your partner. However, picking a local hotel is also a great way to create a peaceful and fun morning for your wedding.
The Roosevelt Hotel also has some amazing amenities including a spa that you can use before your wedding day. I mean, what could be better than a spa day before your wedding and then being able to wake up with all of your wedding party all in the same place?
The architecture of the hotel is also so beautiful, giving you the chance to capture a few portraits before you actually head over to your ceremony location.
A Monochromatic Marigny Opera House Wedding
After the two spent the morning getting ready, they headed over to the Marigny Opera House for their wedding ceremony. This truly was a dream place for their wedding ceremony.
The vaulted ceilings and intricate details of the venue made their ceremony feel even more emotional and special. The two also opted for a monochromatic color palette for their wedding ceremony and really let the natural beauty of the venue shine.
They kept the decorations very simple (for this part of the wedding) and had white flower bouquets and tons of white candles to give the ceremony a simple, but elegant feel.
Their Marigny Opera House wedding ceremony was the perfect choice for these two and gave them the dream venue to have a more upscale and clean ceremony before pulling out all of the stops for their reception.
After Party at The Orpheum Theater
After tying the knot, the day was anything but over. We then headed over to the Orpheum Theater for a very lux and maximalist wedding reception. While their ceremony was simple and clean, their reception was full of color and unique decorations.
One of the highlights of their wedding day for me was the choreographed first dance that they did at the reception. Now, normally I think that these are SO cheesy, but I have to say that Kayleigh and Joe did an absolutely incredible job with theirs.
It really felt like we were watching a captivating performance and it definitely helped that they were also doing this on a stage so it made the dance feel like you were watching a show.
This was hands down one of the most complex lighting situations I’ve ever shot, but it was such an incredible reception and I loved how creative they were with the colors and decor after starting out so simple.
A Unique Twist for the Dream Wedding Day
With how complex and unique this wedding day was, it definitely would not have come together without the work of some incredible vendors. Sam, owner of Three Little Words, planned this wedding and they did such a great job coordinating everything.
This wedding definitely had a lot of moving parts to it and the day went off without a hitch. All of the floral arrangements by CryBaby were so unique as well and really took the spaces to the next level.
Especially when it came to the reception, they really outdid themselves. There were some beautiful centerpieces that were very special, hanging arrangements that felt very unique and one of a kind, and even some neon lights on the tables to add that pop of color!
