As a wedding photographer, I have been part of so many different ceremonies, elopements, and celebrations throughout the years and all of them are unique and special in their own way. However Erin and Peyton’s brunch wedding is hands down one of the most meaningful weddings that I have shot in a long time.
A DIY Brunch Wedding
Now, right off the bat, a brunch wedding is something unique in and of itself. It’s something that you don’t really see, but it was the perfect choice for these two. The decided to tie the knot at NOCCA (New Orleans Center for Creative Arts) and it provided such an incredible space for their wedding.
NOCCA by itself is an incredible organization that helps support education for music, art, and so much more in the area. Not only are they doing incredible work in the community, but they also have created spaces where people can come together and celebrate the most important moments in their lives.
There is a beautiful garden area here which is where Erin and Peyton had their wedding ceremony. They got to say their vows surrounded by greenery and there are so many amazing spots around the gardens that we were able to go for portraits and group photos.
They also had a string quartet play the music for their wedding ceremony and they played Bridgerton inspired music that was so awesome!
Once it was time for brunch, we headed into the Press St. Station building at NOCCA for their reception. Inside, you’ll find white brick walls, exposed wooden beams overhead, art work, and a beautiful open layout that gives you so much flexibility when it comes to your reception layout.
There is even an outdoor patio that is connected by roll-up doors so people are able to easily walk between the patio and the indoor reception area.
An Intentional Day
One of the reasons why this wedding day stands out to me is because of how intentional everything was in every part of the wedding. They opted to do most of the details and planning on their own and combined with the help of their incredible family and friends, were able to put together an incredible wedding.
They were able to really do everything exactly how they wanted to, which for them was a late morning brunch full of all of their favorite breakfast foods, mimosas, and, of course, the best coffee cart in the area!
Not only did they have intentional touches by people who were there to celebrate with them, but they also had some really special touches from those who couldn’t be there.
Both Erin and Peyton recently lost their mothers. However, in hopes of still being able to be a part of their daughter’s wedding, Erin’s mom dried flowers before she passed away at the end of 2022. Her intent was for them to be able to use the flower petals to shower Erin and Peyton as they exited their wedding and that is exactly what they did.
The level of thought and intent with this had me so deeply moved and was absolutely my favorite part of the entire wedding day. I think weddings like this where there is so much thought and care put into each and every detail don’t just make for beautiful photos, but also make for beautiful memories.
These two will not only be able to look back and remember everyone who was there with them to celebrate physically, but also those who were there in spirit.
I say this a lot, but I truly don’t think I’ve been a part of a day more filled with love for a couple. Erin and Peyton are truly some of the most special souls I’ve had the privilege to work with, and their families and friends only added to that as well. Overall, an 11/10 day with this couple and their favorite people.
If an intentional and personal wedding like this is what you are looking for, I would love to be a part of capturing these special moments for you and your partner. Nothing brings me more joy than seeing two people truly in love celebrating that with the people who mean the most to them.
