The easiest way to have a whole fireworks display for your wedding? Get married on New Years Eve! When Kayleigh and Melissa decided to have a New Years Eve wedding, they knew they wanted to give their guests an unforgettable experience. Their community celebrated them at their much-awaited New Orleans wedding at the Rooftop on Basin.
The Rooftop on Basin
The Rooftop on Basin is a New Orleans wedding venue that’s ideal for an intimate wedding, especially if you love the French Quarter. This venue gives you the feeling of being in the French Quarter without the inconveniences the neighborhood can bring. A boutique hotel, the Brakeman Hotel, is located in the building, too. It’s convenient for wedding preparations and as a place for some guests to stay.
Ceremonies at the Rooftop on Basin can be held either in the salon or on the terrace. The salon has wide windows that let in sunlight during the day. In the evening, you get a great view of the city lighting up all around. The neutral decor makes it easy to tailor to different themes and color schemes.
The best part of the Rooftop on Basin is the view. A terrace gives a bird’s eye view of the city. It’s a great spot to enjoy a cocktail or cool off after shaking it on the dancefloor. Because the venue is on the edge of the French Quarter, you can see across the historic neighborhood and the skyline of the Central Business District. This worked out perfectly for Kayleigh and Melissa’s New Years Eve wedding. They couldn’t have asked for a better view of the fireworks set off on the river!
A Luxe New Years Eve Wedding
Melissa and Kayleigh’s choice to have a New Years Eve wedding is in keeping with their love of the finer things in life. They wanted their wedding to feel luxurious but intimate. Their wedding proved that you don’t have to go over the top with extravagances to create a luxe experience for guests.
To emphasize that refined feeling, Melissa and Kayleigh chose a black and white color palette. Melissa’s tux had a classic style that’s typical of this couple. Even in their City Park engagement photos, they were dressed to the nines! Their wedding party looked dapper in black with white roses. Since it was a black tie event, guests really showed up in their best New Years Eve wedding attire. It added an element of class and fun to the evening.
Melissa and Kayleigh put so much thought into the luxe details of their wedding because they wanted to give their guests an experience as opposed to an event. After meeting their community, it’s easy to see why the couple wanted to create an intimate evening to connect joyfully with them. The vast majority of their guests travelled from all over the country for this New Orleans wedding. Kayleigh and Melissa wanted to make sure they had fun!
My favorite part of Melissa and Kayleigh’s wedding was how much their guests wanted to be there to celebrate their love. This couple has such an amazing group of friends, many of whom are members of the Queer community. It was truly a treat for me to see Melissa and Kayleigh surrounded by so many people who care for them deeply!
Fireworks for Kayleigh and Melissa
I said that Kayleigh and Melissa’s wedding had been long anticipated, and it’s true. This couple has been together for 12 years! Guests kept saying, “Finally!” It was clear that their community had been ready to celebrate them for a while.
Since the terrace at the Rooftop on Basin faces the river, Kayleigh and Melissa’s guests got an unbeatable view of the fireworks! When midnight hit, the sky burst to life. Guests gathered around the couple to enjoy the display. This was the moment that Kayleigh and Melissa had looked forward to most – being surrounded by the people they love for the ultimate celebration.
