Want to know the perfect time and place to get engaged in New Orleans? City Park in the Fall is truly unmatched!
When Emily had reached out to me that she would be proposing to Ama and was interested in City Park, I jumped on the opportunity to work with them. Documenting proposals is so special and unlike anything else, since the emotion tends to be palpable. Having photos taken during a proposal feels so easy because the emotion comes naturally, and its so special to have these moments captured!
Emily and Ama currently live in Chicago, where Ama just passed her J.D. bar exam and Ama is an MD/PhD student at Northwestern. These two are the definition of a power couple! Getting to document such a monumental moment in their lives felt like such a privilege.
Emily had originally reached out to me to document their proposal and had mentioned that it might turn into a double proposal where Ama would then propose to her. She wasn’t sure, but she suspected it might happen. Spoiler – she was right! But we’ll get to that later. Emily had explained that New Orleans was one of the first places the couple had traveled as a couple together, which is why it was so significant for them. It made sense for Emily to take this opportunity to propose to Ama on this trip to New Orleans!
Emily had reached out to Pretty Little Picnics NOLA to arrange a gorgeous intimate picnic for the two of them following their proposal. PLP had set up in a more secluded area of City Park where the couple would have some privacy, but still a beautiful view of a foot bridge. These are infamous here in New Orleans City Park, and it was incredible that she was able to secure the spot! If you are looking to book a romantic picnic for any occasion, be sure to check out Pretty Little Picnics!
While I was waiting for the couple to arrive, I sat awkwardly on a park bench trying not to look like a total creep 🙂 But once they arrived and got into place, I emerged from the bushes and was able to document the two of them. Emily said some sweet words before dropping to her knee to present the ring to Ama, and Ama’s response was so pure – she also dropped to her knee and began her own proposal in response to Emily.
After they proposed to each other, I gave the couple some time to enjoy their picnic as newly engaged in City Park! The light took a turn to be the most dreamy light of the day in these moments! The couple also took time to call friends and family back home to let them know of the news! Clearly their families were thrilled for them!
Engagement Photos in New Orleans City Park
Once they had finished their picnic, we spent some time getting portraits of the two of them together around City Park. Since they love New Orleans and the vibe of the city, this was the perfect way to document their recent engagement!
