Capulet is a rooftop wedding venue in New Orleans. It combines a modern aesthetic with breathtaking views of the Bywater for an amazing wedding experience. Sharon and Geoff’s Capulet wedding embraced the elegant setting for their moving celebration.
Capulet: A Rooftop Wedding Venue
Capulet is a favorite rooftop wedding venue in New Orleans. Ceremonies take place against the backdrop of the Bywater neighborhood. If you create your timeline right, you can have a golden hour ceremony while the wind carries sounds from the river. Sometimes you can hear a river boat or band in the distance. It really sets the stage for an authentic New Orleans experience that can be pretty different from what you’ll find in touristy areas of the city.
The view is the draw for this New Orleans wedding venue, so you don’t need much decor to make it feel special. Many couples choose to have some florals. Geoff and Sharon’s chuppah is one of the prettiest takes I’ve seen on ceremony decor at Capulet. Otherwise your guests will be happy to sit in simple chairs and take in the scenery.
The venue is on the larger side. It has a capacity of up to 150 guests for a seated dinner and a 250 for cocktail style reception. If you want a more intimate wedding day, Capulet is worth considering. The layout allows you to design your reception to be as cozy or spacious as you like. Fortunately, the flexible interior means rain won’t ruin your wedding day. If the weather isn’t cooperating, Capulet’s staff can move your ceremony indoors.
The cost for a Capulet wedding can vary pretty widely. You can rent the rooftop wedding venue for a two-hour ceremony. That costs around $1,000. A ceremony and fully catered reception with open bar costs around $8,000 in peak season (usually fall and spring).
An Elegant New Orleans Wedding Venue
In 2018, Capulet gave new life to a nineteenth-century warehouse. It was originally built to store shipments coming in and out of the port. The current owners renovated it to have a modern minimalist aesthetic. This is great for a wedding venue because you can really transform it with bold decor. It’s equally effective to go for simple decor that embraces the chic atmosphere.
Inside Capulet, a beautiful bar lines one wall of the main floor. A gallery overlooks the space. You can use it as a staging area to grab some quiet time with your partner or for more seating during your reception. I love that this wide open space has plenty of room for eating and dancing without having to rearrange everything after dinner.
Capulet is beautiful, but this rooftop wedding venue is really known for its food. Their crispy brussel sprouts are always a hit. They’re also one of the better restaurants in New Orleans for accommodating food allergies. The bar is just as exciting as dinner with delicious signature cocktails and non-alcoholic drinks.
The Bywater neighborhood is a great spot for a rooftop wedding venue in New Orleans. Sunsets over the historic neighborhood are gorgeous. There are also so many amazing portrait locations within walking distance of Capulet. Sharon and Geoff’s timeline left plenty of time for portraits before and after their ceremony. The images show the artistic side of the neighborhood as well as the classic New Orleans architecture.
Sharon and Geoff’s Capulet Wedding
Capulet was the ideal rooftop wedding venue for Sharon and Geoff. They had stunning florals but otherwise kept their decor simple and elegant. The details were really effective in creating a romantic ambiance without being showy. During their ceremony, the light couldn’t have been more perfect.
Speeches are one of my favorite parts of a wedding day, and Sharon and Geoff’s wedding was no exception. The speeches were especially moving. Listening to their parents, I felt like I was getting to know them so well. These images give you a sense of the depth of emotion that everyone felt so tangibly.
